Traditional ad networks were built for browsers: load a page, render a banner, track a click. But when the “user” is an AI agent assembling a response from three APIs and a knowledge graph, there is no page to put a banner on. ZeroClick is building advertising infrastructure for this post-browser world.

What it does

ZeroClick is an AI-native advertising platform that delivers contextual sponsored offers via API. Founded by Ryan Hudson — who previously built Honey, acquired by PayPal for $4 billion in 2020 — and backed by $55M in Series A funding, ZeroClick returns structured data: a title, description, click URL, image URL, brand name, price, and call-to-action that can be embedded into any response format. Text, JSON, voice, whatever your agent outputs. Over 10,000 advertisers are already connected to the network.

The offers are contextual. You send a query or content description, and ZeroClick returns relevant sponsored offers based on what the user is asking about. No cookies, no tracking pixels, no third-party JavaScript.

How it works

ZeroClick describes itself as a “reasoning-time” ad platform — promoted context is considered by the AI in real time as answers are formed, not injected after the fact. The name references both zero-click search behavior and DoubleClick, Google’s foundational ad platform.

The core integration is a REST API. You POST to /api/v2/offers with a query string and a limit for how many offers you want back. The response is an array of offer objects, each with the fields needed to present and attribute the offer. They also provide an SDK and MCP Server for plug-and-play integration.

There are two integration modes. In server-side mode, your backend fetches offers and includes them in responses. In client-side mode, the end-user’s device fetches offers directly. The distinction matters because impression tracking (/api/v2/impressions) must originate from the client device for attribution to work correctly — this is a hard requirement for billing and reporting.

Each offer includes a clickUrl that handles attribution when a user follows through. The entire flow is designed to be programmatic: no SDK, no widget, just HTTP requests and JSON responses.

Where it fits in the agent economy

Monetization is the unsolved problem for most agent-based services. You can charge per query, gate access behind subscriptions, or sell data — but advertising is the model that funds the free web, and agents need their version of it.

ZeroClick provides that version. An agent answering product questions can include a relevant sponsored recommendation. A travel agent can surface hotel offers alongside its itinerary suggestions. A research agent can mention relevant tools or services.

We integrated ZeroClick into the agenteconomy.io blog as a working demo — sponsored offers appear contextually within content, served entirely via API. The Amplifier service in our agent economy uses a similar pattern, enriching agent responses with relevant sponsored content.

The key insight is that AI-native ads do not interrupt; they augment. When an agent mentions a product that happens to be sponsored, the experience is more like a knowledgeable recommendation than a banner ad.

Limitations

The offer inventory depends on ZeroClick’s advertiser base, which is still growing. For niche queries, you may get no relevant offers or generic fallbacks.

The impression tracking requirement (must come from client device) adds complexity to server-side integrations. If your agent is purely backend with no client component, attribution tracking becomes awkward.

Revenue per impression/click in AI-native contexts is still being established. The economics of agent-served ads may differ significantly from traditional web advertising, and the market is too early to have clear benchmarks.

Contextual relevance depends on the quality of the query you send. Vague or overly broad queries produce less relevant offers.
